Kick-off at 12:20 against St Albans on a very cold and windy day at Ickleford. Hitchin got off to a flying start with Tamsin and Maddy attacking the goal in the first eight minutes. Hitchin Belles took possession from the kick-off and dominated the game for the first half, with Tamsin taking the Belles into the lead within eight minutes. Three minutes later she made it two-nil. Helen made strong attmepts at scoring, but with no luck. Around the quarter-hour mark it was three-nil, another goal from Tamsin who then took the half-time score very swiftly to four-nil to the Belles. An excellent first half for Hitchin, with all the girls working hard. There were some great touches by Abby, Carmen and Jasmine in her debut match for the Belles.

An attacking high ball |
The second half began with some fierce attacks from St. Albans, and some great saves from Beth, Playing into the wind the Belles quickly regained possession after a strong run down the wing by St. Albans and another excellent save from Beth. Six minutes into the second half saw a goal from Bethan make it five-nil in favour of the Belles. St. Albans persevered in the fight, but to no avail. Tamsin quickly made it six and then seven nil, with Bethan adding an eighth goal well supported by Helen. Casey worked hard in midfield and was rewarded with the ninth goal. A moments weakness in defence led to the one and only goal by St. Albans, but this was quickly rectified by a beautiful shot from Bethan to make the final score ten-one to Hitchin.

This match demonstrated some excellent play by all the players, and was a well-deserved result to get the team back into winning ways.
All the girls performed really well in this match, and Jasmine certainly earned her place in the team, but player of the week goes to Tamsin for her hatful of goals!
